JEWELRY CARE

Good to know about jewellery care
Rings and chains
Jewellery that is used gets worn – primarily rings, as they take some knocks from time to time. Chains that have been worn for a long period often become worn in the links around the clasp, so it can be a good idea to have the clasp checked.
Alliance rings and solitaire rings should be checked if they have been hit, as there may be damage to one or more of the claws that hold the stones in place.
Pearls and gemstones
Pearls and some gemstones do not tolerate cleaning agents/chlorine, so I recommend that you always take off your jewellery if you are in doubt.
Oxidation
Oxidation is a surface treatment that can be applied to silver if you want the dark grey/black colour. It will wear off over time but can always be refreshed.
If you frequently swim in the sea, you risk the saltwater partially removing the oxidation on the silver.
Avoid
- Pulling on your chains
- Being rough with the clasps on your chains
- Your jewellery coming into contact with chlorinated water
- Cream and perfume on your jewellery
- Your jewellery lying and scratching each other
I can help you if your jewellery needs to be
- checked at the clasp
- checked at the claws after a knock,
- restringing of pearl necklaces with new silk thread
- refreshing of oxidation after much use
- cleaning of stones
- refreshing of the surface of rings - coarse/fine matting
- polishing
- repair
- reshaping of old gold
